About Guthrie Machine Works

Guthrie Machine Works has been providing machining services to the lawnmower and tractor industry for more than 40 years. Owned and operated by Chuck Perry, Guthrie is a leader in CNC manufacturing and screw machine products. Guthrie enhances its full machining services, including screw machining, CNC lathe, CNC milling and broaching, with heat-treating, plating, and assembly capabilities.  Emphasis is placed on quality, consistent on-time delivery and strict adherence to customer specifications.

Why did Guthrie Choose E2?

In 2003, Guthrie Machine Production Manager Dan Parkhurst was looking for a way to modernize his shop.  While things were working “okay”, he knew that he could do better by increasing the speed and ease with which he could enter, process and ship his orders.

To make these improvements, Dan chose to replace his old and outdated DOS-based system with the E2 system from Shoptech Software.  E2 offered quicker order entry and shipping functions, more accurate tracking, as well as the ability to import data from his customers via the Internet.

The Results… So Far

Dan Parkhurst has been very pleased with E2 since implementing the software at Guthrie Machine.  Quicker, more efficient order entryand shipping processes have saved him both time and money; and he can track shop operations much more accurately.  His employees have found the system easy to use, minimizing his start-up time.  Shop reports generated by E2 have been a plus as well – Dan says that his E2 reports are easier to generate and to understand, and he can determine exactly which reports he needs to run to monitor his operations.
