After using JobBoss on the shop floor, they decided it was time to look for ERP software that better fit their business.

About QT Magnetic Solutions

QT Magnetic Solutions was founded in 1992 by the current CEO Ron Zichterman. They manufacture fine-tuned, high-end magnets and permanent magnets that are used in multiple industries. In addition to manufacturing, they do some engineering and create magnetic assemblies for customers. The company is family-owned and has stayed small because of the specialized work they do. QT Magnetic Solutions has a total of 11 employees, with many being cross-trained on other job functions in the shop. Most of the employees, however, specialize in a specific function or job within their processes.

After some time using JobBoss on the shop floor, QT Magnetic Solutions decided it was time to look for ERP software that better fit their business. On the accounting side, there weren’t enough options in JobBoss and that would cause issues when trying to enter orders. The company decided they needed to make a change to more user-friendly software that wouldn’t give employees trouble when trying to access different areas.

These issues sparked the search for new ERP software. QT Magnetic Solutions set their IT professional as the point person on the search for software and he discovered Shoptech at a conference. After further research, he decided E2 was a much better fit for the business. E2 gave them more flexibility and had all the reports they needed to run the shop.

They purchased the original product in 2016 and then became one of the beta testers on the E2 Shop System a year later. Since then, QT Magnetic Solutions has
seen significant improvements throughout the shop. Dana Zichterman does the book keeping and in-house accounting, including AP and AR. According to Dana, her job is very involved with E2 and she uses the Accounting Module for invoicing and related functions. For her position, Dana likes having the option to backdate reports for their outside accounting or bank.

There have been significant improvements on the shop floor as well. QT Magnetic Solutions implemented a new quality procedure after getting the E2 Quality Module because the system provided the necessary paperwork making everything easier. E2 also keeps everything more organized in the shop and has completely streamlined the paperwork trail that used to be stored all over. Plus, Dana says the E2 Inventory App has made a big difference there. The app is handy because they can find any item in inventory instantly, instead of having to go find something on the shelf or having to search for it on the computer in the inventory room.

When looking towards the future, Dana says that they’re looking to new customers and still planning to stay consistent with their current customers. Using the software to stay organized and on top of things makes it easy to help their customers. E2 provides points of reference for QT Magnetic Solutions so they can quickly respond to customer questions as well. They also hope to use the system as a training tool for new employees. According to Dana, “I think the big thing for us with E2 is using it to maintain our quality and have effective communication with our customers because that’s a huge thing for any company.”
